A Present!

Our little Poo was outside today, as she normally likes to do when the weather starts getting nice. I went to check on her and she was at the door like she wanted to come. M&M acted like she wanted to go out. So I open the door, blocking M&M to allow Poo to come in first.

To my surprise our little Poo had a little present for us! A snake! Have I ever mentioned that I REALLY dislike snakes? I immediatly shut the door a) so she didn't bring in the snake b) so M&M didn't get a hold of it as well.

Now it was a tiny little thing but still. So I yell for Mr. M to come take care of our little present. I tried to grab the camera to take a picture of Poo and her little play toy but Mr. M had already gotten her into the house (without the snake) and then threw the snake away.

Not sure what kind it was though. All I know is ick!

Dog Park Etiquette & Rules

As I sat at the dog park today with M&M there were a few things I noticed:
  • Rule is if your dog takes a poo - pick it up. Now just because your dog poo's on its way to the actual enclosed fenced area doesn't mean you shouldn't pick it up. If you don't carry the little bags with you then go inside the park and grab one of the ones they provide for you, go back out AND PICK IT UP! Dumb *ss.
  • Kids are not allowed inside the park. Not surprised when one kid who was running across the park was being chased by a dog. Kid kind of stopped, a little frightened, and continued on to his destination. Mom? Sitting on the bench talking on the phone. Clueless!
  • So when the second kid, looked a little younger than the first, was being chased (by the same dog) I was surprised when mom finally got off her *ss to go help - phone still pressed to the ear mind ya.
  • This is the first time that I've noticed someone come into the park with a bag 'o beer. He looked college age. Probably just turned 21 and just can't get enough beer. Or maybe he had a really hard day at work and just had to have one, even if it was at the dog park.
  • And when you start to notice too many little scuffles going on its time to grab the dog and head out.

One nice side note though. They have done some nice improvements to the park we go to. They've added several more picnic tables and benches for us humans to sit on.

Singing with Dad!

Our little M&M LOVES to sing with her daddy. We had her "perform" when Queen P was here a few weeks ago and she told me I needed to record it and put it on my blog. So here she is for your listening pleasure...

Out for a Week

We've been taking M&M to the dog park a lot lately. Let her get some exercise in and socialize with a few friends. Last night we took her and about 5 minutes after we got there she got into a small scuffle with another dog.

Of course my shy little girl did not start it. I couldn't even tell you what type of dog it was that "attacked" my dog. All I know is it was white and I wanted it off my dog. M&M did stand up for herself and fought back - I'm not sure if she did any damage to the other dog or not.

After the owner grabbed her dog M&M headed straight for the gate to leave the park. She didn't want anything else to do with it that night. I went and grabbed her to look her over make sure she was okay. She seemed okay. I comforted her and let her know that everything was good. The lady of the other dog was grabbing her dog to go and did stop by to make sure she was okay. I knew she felt bad and for the most part you can't really control how dogs react with each other.

M&M did stay in the park for a while and played. One of the guys that I see there often came and asked how she was doing. He said that her dog hadn't been playing nice for a while and that she should not have brought him in the first place... go figure.

As we were getting ready for bed later that night I noticed there was a little blood on her. She has a small puncture wound near her mouth! We got her to the vet this afternoon and they said she looks okay but we need to give her anitbiotics for the rest of the week and flush out the wound to make sure there's nothing in it. (that's the blue stuff you see in the pictures). Vet suggested staying away from the dog park for about a week just to make sure no dirt or anything gets in her wound.

To the Dog Park

It has been a rather long time since we've taken M&M to the dog park. So I took her on Sunday morning while it was still nice and cool outside.

I don't think she's ever enjoyed it as much as she did that day. At first she was in her own little world as she normally is. Roaming around on her own, minding her own business.

I was standing in the shade of a big tree and a few other people started to congregate there as well. One lady asked me if that was my husky and I said yes. I had noticed her come in with a few dogs and one was a white dog that looked like a husky as well so I asked her. It was!! I've never seen a full white husky before. She was very pretty.

There was another dog there that really wanted to play with someone. Played a little with the white husky and kept trying to get M&M to play. So M&M kept barking at her in a friendly but kind of get back type of way and the other dog barked back. So they kept doing this to each other as M&M stayed right around my legs. The white husky's mom was laughing about how M&M wouldn't go far from her mom. I told them no because she's a big ole scardy cat.

So M&M opened up a little and ran around with a few of them. We stayed out there for about an hour. More and more dogs kept coming. Our little crowd under the tree kept growing with people and dogs. Finally M&M just kept laying on the ground to rest so I decided to take her home. She slept so good that afternoon! :-)

Oh and yesterday Mr. M and I went to check out this place that we're going to board M&M for the weekend. There was this dog in this play area that I was watching and I pointed it out to Mr. M and said "it looks like a coyote". The lady who works there said that was her dog and that it was half coyote. She didn't know that when she first got her. She's getting used to other dogs. She's very pretty.

Oh and I just had to post some recent pics of my babies throughout the post... enjoy!

My dog - the Huntress

Well that's what Mr. M is calling her.

For a few days now little Ms. M&M has been pacing by our back fence like she sees something just under it. Every time I go back there I see nothing. I even had to bring her in one night because she just started barking at it and I didn't want her to bug the neighbors all night.

Then the day before yesterday she was in the yard aways and I could tell she had something. So I went out there to check it out and it was a frog. I think it's my little frog friend that kept visiting last year. Mr. M picked it up and threw it over the fence so it wouldn't be M&M's new toy.

So yesterday I let her out when I got home to do her business and run around. Now she's focused on our wheel barrow that is turned over and obviously there is something underneath it. I'm thinking maybe its my frog friend and go out there. Of course I look at M&M and tell her that if its a snake that I will be very upset (I really, really, really do not like snakes). I hesitantly raise the wheelbarrow and to my wonderful surprise is a small opossum! {and yes it's opossum - not possum} Of course it scared the sh*t out of me and I dropped the wheelbarrow. I grab M&M and take her in the house and get on the website to Google exactly how dangerous they are and how to get rid of them.

When Mr. M got home I told him of the latest find from our dog. As we left her in the house we went out to take a look. As he lifted the wheelbarrow the thing high tailed it under the fence to our neighbors yard. Mr. M peeked over the fence and all I heard him say was "uh oh". I'm like what? The poor thing escaped into the clutches of our neighbors dog!! :-( I'm so upset by this. Mr. M kept telling me, "I didn't do it on purpose" I know! I told him that maybe it was just "playing dead" - that's what they do anyway right? So I run over to our neighbors to let them know that their dog has an opossum, but they weren't home. I didn't go in there to handle because the dog is a rottweiler. He's a freindly dog but I'm not taking my chances.

Well I didn't look in on how the little fellow was doing because it would just upset me. M&M is now fine and no longer pacing by the fence - but I think an innocent little animal may have lost his little life. :-(

Video - Playing in the Snow

Okay, this is gonna be my attempt at loading video.

M&M found one of her balls in the snow and got a little wild streak in her and was just running everywhere, shaking it up and just having a good 'ole time. Enjoy!

Ding Ding - Round 2

Wow! DFW hardly ever gets snow so isn't it interesting that we got it TWICE in the same week? And we got more today than we did the other day. Of course we had to get out and play in it and many more pictures were taken. I actually figured out how to use the video that's on our camera and will try to post one of those later as well. I tell you the snow "flakes" coming down got to be soooo big! I don't recall ever seeing snow flakes that big before!

So here are several photos for your enjoyment! These were taken throughout the afternoon so you can see in some of them just how deep the snow got.

You can't have this much snow and not build a snow-woman!

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

The DFW area always recieves one day of snow and/or ice. Tonight we're getting the snow, hopefully it won't create the ice.
So of course we had to let our little "snow dog" go out and play in it to get some pictures. Here are my horrible attempts to get a few clear shots.

Pretty dog in the snow!
Except for those darn evil red eyes.

Although this one is a big fuzzy, I like it because she's chasing Mr. M!
Get 'em girl!

Here M&M is burying a treat she found. Mr. M had never seen her bury anything before so he thought it was funny.

This is why her nose is dirty sometimes when she comes back in the house.

Did I mention that she's shedding her winter hair? So now we have a wet, shedding dog!

What a Rough Afternoon

Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I've signed in. Mom was staying with us for about a week so I was with her most of the time. She's doing good and is back at her place. Staples have been taken out and she's eating and walking around slowly. :-)

So yesterday was a rather rough afternoon. I think Mr. M and I kind of jinxed ourselves. As we were going to work yesterday morning we were talking about how good M&M has been lately. So when Mr. M walked in the door of the house yesterday afternoon he knew immediately something was bad.

Evidently M&M had a bit of an upset tummy and left us a few "presents" in the hall and study. So as he was cleaning it up he stuck M&M outside, where she continued to relief herself (poor girl).

Well here in the DFW area it was VERY WINDY!!!! And well Mr. M didn't notice when he first let M&M out that the fence was split and leaning in the back corner. M&M didn't notice for awhile either as she was a little busy. Well Mr. M finally realized that she decided to take off.... again. (BTW she bolted out the front door about a week ago when some guy distracted us asking for directions just as we got home).

So Mr. M calls me and tells me she's gone and get home as quickly as possible. When I get closer to home I'm coming over the hill and notice this figure running and I know immediatly it's Mr. M. I look a little further a head of him and see M&M. It was on a rather busy street and she was heading back to our neighborhood so I drove on by and tried to head her off.

Long story short (okay maybe a little too late for that) she kept on going down a street and out into a field. When she comes out of the field and runs by me up towards our swimming pool area. There were two people who had just pulled up and were talking to one another and I yell out, "Can you please grab that dog? Please, please, please!?!?" So the guy kind of bends down to say "hi" and M&M jogs right up to him. So he grabs her collar and holds her till I can get there.

So the rest of the evening was spent trying to rig the fence so it will stand on its own. Running out to buy cleaning supplies and smell good stuff. Come home and clean.

She seems a bit better today so hopefully no more drama!

Let the Shedding begin!

Well M&M is shedding immensly now. I guess it's for the summer. At least it's not like the last time, although time will tell. Although I'm actually wondering why it's not like the last time. From the research I did on husky's they don't usually shed.

I guess I can't complain, she's not leaving chunks of hair everywhere. And we do try to brush her while we're outside. It looks like snow on the ground. :-)

I did a major vacuum of the downstairs over the weekend, including the sofas and pillows in the living room. I washed the throw blankets, mostly to get the cat hair off it and the sofas. I try to keep everything "covered" when we're not in there so if the cats do lay down on them the hair won't get all over the sofas and then all over us. We'll see how long this lasts.

Those were the biggest balls I've ever seen!

I'd have to say there was something wrong with them. Ok, I'm talking about dog balls. I took M&M to the dog park and there was this poodle looking dog, but it was taller than most poodles, and I turned around and those puppies were just swinging around.

That dog had to of been in pain. They were the size of 2 fists put together and so red. Seriously I think there was something wrong with them and I wanted to ask the owner but didn't think it my place.

Catchy title though huh? :-) I'm hoping to make Lara's Sunday Google-age because they crack me up.

10 days in a row

Okay, I'm about done with the rain! I was watching our local news and they mentioned we've had rain 10 days in a row. Supposedly it will be dry Thu/Fri/Sat and then rain again on Sunday.

I tell you what it was nasty today. Where I sit at work there are no windows. I was going to the restroom and I could see the windows and it was pitch black outside! I went to take a look and it was just incredible how dark it was. It looked like I was working at midnight. Of course the first thing I think - my dog!

We've not yet bought our prissy little dog a doghouse yet to take cover from the rain. And well she got away - again! sigh.

So the guy who had her gave me his address but we ended up meeting between the both of us. I did look up his address before we met and it was over 7 miles away, past a major highway. One of my friends mentioned that maybe they found her closer to my home and they just took her to their home. So I asked this when we met.

Nope!! She actually walked, ran, jogged whatever to their side of town. The wife had the door open getting ready to go, turned around to do something, turned back around and there was M&M inside their house. They also have a husky so she decided to keep M&M and put her with their dog. M&M being the big mean dog she is (so not) started fighting with their dog (which they told me is much bigger than M&M).

When I drove home with her she wasn't as hyper in my car as she normally is. When we got home she went straight to the water bowl. And she's been laying down ever since. Even when Mr. M came in the door she just laid there. I guess walking over 7 miles kind of wears you out.

My dog and the rain

It has been decided that M&M does not like the rain.

I knew that she didn't like the sprinklers and taking a bath but I didn't think that the rain was that big of a deal to her. But it seems that everytime it rains she finds a way out of our yard.

As you can guess we got rain today! Mr M got home and there was a note on our door from our neighbor advising us that they had our dog. Good thing because evidently before she escaped our yard she got her dog collar with all her tags that identify her off her neck.

I think I've finally convinced Mr. M that we need to get her a dog house. If for anything else but to get out of the rain. He keeps trying to compare her to the dog he grew up with "my dog never went into his dog house..." Well M&M is a prissy little girl and she probably will.

So we'll start looking at prices and different types and see what we can get her. Hopefully this will help. Plus I won't feel so bad when I hear there's a storm coming while we're at work. And with all the funky weather we've been having lately I just feel better about it.

Come Back Here!

About 3 weeks ago or so we had a little "incident" and our door frame was broken. Everyone is okay, nothing stolen, everything is good except the door frame. We had one of our friends come by and look at it and he said he could fix it for us. He took Mr. M with him to Lowe's or Home Depot to find the piece we needed. He came over on Sunday with his wife, Computer Diva, and went to work.

Before they came over I took M&M to the dog park to run around and get a little tired so she wouldn't be in our way. When I got home Mr. M was working in the garage. So I joined him in there and had M&M on her leash and just let her sit in there with us. When our friends arrived he went to work on the door and Diva sat in the garage with me and M&M. From time to time we would go in the house to watch the door being worked on and M&M was relatively good. Of course the door is wide open but Mr. Diva was basically in the way so no way to really get out.

At the end of the evening when the door was complete there was a small period of time when everyone was in a different place and the door was left wide open. Of course M&M saw her perfect opportunity and took off! BAM! I heard Mr. M yell at me and take off on foot after her. I went and grabbed my car keys and the leash and went down the road. Diva and Mr. Diva told us when we got back that our next door neighbors were outside and started laughing at M&M taking off and Mr. M taking off after her. We finally rounded her up about 3 blocks away. Damn dog!

Plus the last few days we have had so much rain! Not that I'm complaining. Yesterday we get home and M&M had found the smallest section of fence that's not really enforced and... you guessed it... dug a hole! She wasn't as dirty as in this post, but she was still dirty. Sigh! At least this time Mr. M was at home to help wash her. And she knew exactly what was about to happen when we took her up.

Oh! And BIG THANKS to Mr. Diva for fixing our door. I really do appreciate it and glad that I can finally shut it the whole way and lock it! :-)

Just Dirty

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a post regarding the famous M&M and her adventures.

Just to brag, here’s another picture of my pretty girl… mischievous as she is!

Well yesterday DFW was hit with a huge storm that just DUMPED tons of rain. Not that I’m complaining I haven’t had to water my yard yet this spring. M&M was outside (as she is everyday now) and I guess she decided she wanted to leave and seek shelter (I keep telling Mr. M we need to get her a dog house if for anything when it rains, it’s still a battle). So I got a call from PetSmart because someone found her and luckily she has that chip we had put in her.

So I come home and get the leash and then go get her. She’s only 2 houses down and he was keeping her in his garage out of the rain. Very nice guy. Showed me his dog so if it ever got out I would know who it belonged to.

I get home and with umbrella in hand I walk the fence to try and discover how she got out. I couldn’t find anything!!! This dog must have jumped over the fence or beamed through it. Hee hee.

Well this morning as I go to work I let her out like I do now because I can’t find anything. Mr. M tells me at lunch that I shouldn’t have and hopefully we have a dog when we get home.

So I get home tonight…. And we still have a dog!! And boy is she DIRTY!!! It seems she has been in and out of the yard today. Found the hole under the gate, and of course since it was raining yesterday she crawled through mud not dirt! Did I mention she’s dirty? It made me laugh how dirty she was.

Mr. M is working late tonight so I had the pleasure of washing her by myself. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this but M&M hates water!! Weird dog. So I had a nice little “workout” in keeping her in the tub to do this. I was going to take her collar off so I could get under it but I had to leave it on so I could have something to hold on to. Luckily I have some knee pads (you can get them in the gardening section, good for when you wash the toilet as well, Mr M thinks they would be good for something else… no comment hee hee) The hardest part was washing off the soap (oh did I mention all I have is cat soap HA HA) because it’s underneath her and I don’t have one of those hoses so I have to use a cup and try and use my hands… I’m tired.

So of course before I started I had to take a few pictures. I don’t know if these actually do it justice or not… The bone she has was given to her a couple of weeks ago. She can hardly carry the thing around.

Dog Park Etiquette

As most of you know we take M&M to the dog park every Sunday after doggie school. Although there are several rules that apply, here are the 3 that I think should be followed the most:

1. Children under 10 years are not allowed inside the fenced area
2. There should be no toys inside
3. Big dogs go in the big dog area and little dogs go in the little dog area

I'll explain my opinions of each...

1. Children under 10 years are not allowed inside the fenced area

I know, I know I'll get a bit of critisism from the parents, I've already heard it from my best friend. However there is a reason they have this rule and I've seen it first hand. Here's an example of it going okay. A few weeks ago I actually witnessed two mothers bring in there strollers with their babies into the big dog section. Yes I said babies! Now I know that mothers like to get out of the house as well and they can come to the park, I just don't feel that they should come inside the fenced area. Now if they kept the babies inside the carriage where it might be a little safer I might have been okay. But no, they took them out and sat on the ground with the babies in their laps in front of them. Now why might this be bad? Well dogs get hyper and they like to jump on you sometimes. Sometimes these dogs jump on me and I'm adult and sometimes I feel like I'm going to fall over. And this past weekend there was a boy in there no higher than your waist and a dog got hyper and kept jumping on him. The dad had to get in between the both of them and shield his son with his own body. And of course the boy is frightened and crying. Now what if one of these hyper dogs went to one of those mothers with their babies in their lap? How would they protect them? Roll over to use their own body as a shield?

2. There should be no toys inside

And they mean anything that can qualify as a toy in the dogs eye. There are plenty of old tennis balls out there and they get used. Most dogs are pretty decent with each other when they are used. But then there are people who bring in soccer balls and actually play soccer in the corner while their dog is playing. And dogs want to get into the middle of that. And this next one also ties into #1... there are some kids who use the leash of their dog to jump rope. To a dog... this is a toy. And of course the dog wanted to play. So what does the dog do? Jump up on the kid.. and what happened? The kid got scratched or slightly bitten to were there was a small amount of blood that was drawn. Oh and the mom went ballistic as if it was the dog's owners fault. And those people, it was their first time to the park. I had chatted with them. I'm sure I'll never see them again.

3. Big dogs go in the big dog area and little dogs go in the little dog area

There's a reason why they have separate areas for different sized dogs. This past weekend I was in the big dog area and a couple came in with their small dog. Well M&M, as a husky, is known for being a dominate dog. And well what an easier dog to dominate than a small dog. So of course she went to "greet" her and of course I had to go grab her. Mine wasn't the only dog that went to greet their dog. They finally got wise and went to the other area.

Then there was this other dog, very cute looked like a stuffed animal I couldn't even tell you it's breed. Anyway it was playing with another smaller dog (both in the big dog section) and they were cute. And if they had just stayed playing with each other they could have been fine. However they're dogs and they wanted to explore the rest of the area. Now I didn't see exactly what happened I just remember hearing a big commotion... owners grabbing their dogs.... dogs yelping... dogs barking... one guy on the ground cuddling his cute little dog that used to look like a stuffed animal yelling "get your dogs off my dog, there's blood!".

Now M&M was not part of any of this, we'd been there about an hour and half and she was tired and we were getting ready to go home anyway. But I did grab her by the collar and walked her way so she wouldn't get interested in all the commotion. But it is interesting how it's "our" fault when your tiny dog gets a bit of rough playing from our bigger dogs. If you want to play in the big dog park - buy a big dog! Otherwise your lap dog goes in the small section.

Those are my 3 cents.

My cat is funny!

My cats like to drink out of the faucet, especially Poo. As soon as I turn on the water she throws her paw in there to grab the water and bring it back to her mouth. You know, kind of like when you watched an old cowboy movie and the Indian would use their hand to drink out of the river?

She'll do this for a while, sometimes not even bringing it to her mouth just playing in the water. After a while she realizes she's not getting much water doing this and just sticks her head down in the water.

Then she'll finally tire of this and just drink out of the glasses we provide for the cats. She makes me laugh everytime she does this!

I'm a Bad Mother!

I was outside playing ball with M&M. I left the back door open just a little so the cats could come out if they wanted. (they can be outside while the dog is only if they are attended). So we're playing and I'm ready to come inside. I see Poo by the door so I scoot her on in. CGirl isn't much of an outdoor girl so I figure she's already in.

I go chat with Mr. M and then go to the living room to watch tv. Then I hear M&M barking and carrying on. At first I figure she's barking at the dog behind us but I realize it's closer to the house. I knew immediatly what it was. I run to the door and fling it open to let poor CGirl in.

I felt sooooo bad!! I'm comforting her wet little body (because of course M&M had her in her mouth a few times I'm sure). Finally I get her to kind of calm down and finally purr as she's our purr machine and that's when I know she's okay.

Man, I'm such a bad mom.

Snow in Dallas/Ft Worth!

Yep, you heard me right, we actually got snow! Thursday afternoon it started out nice and small and then it actually came down big and pretty! I just had to go home and play outside with my dog! And she was loving it. We ran and ran and ran.... And then she wanted to play with one of her many bones she has. Of course I couldn't pass up a picture opportunity with her in the snow. I hope you enjoy.

She finally got tired of being out there by herself so she was looking at me like, "okay mom can I come in?". She was so hyper when she came in and sliding all over the kitchen floor before I could get to her to dry her off.

Then when I woke up on Friday and went to let her out it had evidently snowed during the night because there was a nice blanket of snow. I was loving it. I got dressed and started out for work. I got a few miles before I decided I was turning around and going back home. I know any of you Northerners who might be reading this are thinking, "p*ssy". Well you see people in Dallas do not know how to drive in a bit of ice. Plus there's just not stuff good enough to help with the roads. Plus I was listening on the radio and the highway was shut down in two spots between where I was and where I needed to go.
So back to the house and let the dog back out to play.

This one of her by the fence is looking out at our back neighbors that she likes to go visit when she gets a chance.
BTW - I did finally get to work and even though there was no more ice it took me forever. And all the snow is gone. Boy we have been getting some interesting weather lately. This is the 3rd icy batch that has been through. Although the first 2 were really bad!
