Do they forget?

I work in a cubicle farm. If you too work in one, you know what I'm talking about. If you're unsure then you need to watch the movie Office Space... that's a cubicle farm (and a pretty darn funny movie!)

So only people who are Managers and above have the privilage of having an office - with a door that shuts. Now that's the key to this particular story - a door that shuts/

I think that people who have an office think that there is an imaginary force field that blocks any and all sound that comes from their office... in particular the phone.

Is it a requirement of having an office to answer and take calls with the speaker phone? Are you that busy that you can't hold on to the phone while you talk? If you are too busy then get off the phone. If you find it a requirement to be on the speaker phone - then shut the door!

I guess this one should go under the pet peeve section. :-) Oh and not that this didn't just recently happen (okay that was sarcastic)

It's a dollar!

Remember my bill I received for the toll booth for $1.20?

I never received a reply to the email I sent them... go figure!

Well I received another bill because evidently I didn't pay it in time so they charged me a $1 late fee. They've cashed my check for the small $1.20, now they want another $1?

I tried the phone number they had on the bill to try and dispute this and she mentioned that I'd have to pay the $1. So I'm saying, "sooo... I have to write another check for one dollar?" At which time she said I could pay over the phone.

I tell you, I'll never go through that toll again! I even thought of that when I was taking Mr. M to the airport.

Idiots in the office!

My friend, the Computer Diva, has linked from her blog this interesting website "Heard in the Office". (I've now added it to mine as well). The site is really funny as it lists conversations that people have submitted that they have heard from their office.

Well we've recently had an email go out that was just funny as hell. The Computer Diva did submit it but I don't think it went through... But it's available here for your viewing pleasure. :-)

Let me set it up... Someone at the top of our food chain sent a message to the whole floor. Then the agent from the floor replied... but it gets better, this person didn't do the "reply all" function that you have in email... she actually went in and addressed the email to everyone who received it. What a dumb*ss! Here you go...

Original email from top of food chain titled - Spraying Perfume:
Please remember to be considerate of your fellow team members by not wearing excessive perfume or cologne. Some individuals are severely allergic to perfume and cologne.

Additional message sent from agent:
If People aren't FARTING EVERYWHERE You wouldn't have to SPRAY anything ...think about that! Please let's get up and go to the bathroom if it's that bad ...PLEASE.

My cat is funny!

My cats like to drink out of the faucet, especially Poo. As soon as I turn on the water she throws her paw in there to grab the water and bring it back to her mouth. You know, kind of like when you watched an old cowboy movie and the Indian would use their hand to drink out of the river?

She'll do this for a while, sometimes not even bringing it to her mouth just playing in the water. After a while she realizes she's not getting much water doing this and just sticks her head down in the water.

Then she'll finally tire of this and just drink out of the glasses we provide for the cats. She makes me laugh everytime she does this!

Dog Training - Week 2

Yesterday was the second class for M&M. She was better behaved than the 1st week, I think because we learned how to control her a bit more with treats. And she's pretty much done shedding so that was nice as well.

This week we learned to "sit" and to walk on the leash. Tomorrow I'll practice with her on the sitting and then I'll try and muster up the courage to walk her by myself. Mr. M is out of town, again, and so this might be a small challenge.

We did find out that we were putting her dog leash thing on wrong. I think she'll feel much better and react a bit better with it on right.

And one of the older couples in there gave us a great suggestion on how to keep her from digging under the fence to get out. Cayenne Pepper! They said to make it to a tea like substance, so it's not soo strong, and then spray it on the fence. I guess it doesn't hurt to try it.

The trainer also mentioned creating a separate digging area just for M&M out of a kiddie pool and different type of dirt than what we have in the yard. I had actually read about creating a separate digging area but I don't recall them saying to use a different type of dirt than what we have. Although it really makes sense, you don't want to use the same dirt so she doesn't think the whole yard is for her to dig in!

I'm a Bad Mother!

I was outside playing ball with M&M. I left the back door open just a little so the cats could come out if they wanted. (they can be outside while the dog is only if they are attended). So we're playing and I'm ready to come inside. I see Poo by the door so I scoot her on in. CGirl isn't much of an outdoor girl so I figure she's already in.

I go chat with Mr. M and then go to the living room to watch tv. Then I hear M&M barking and carrying on. At first I figure she's barking at the dog behind us but I realize it's closer to the house. I knew immediatly what it was. I run to the door and fling it open to let poor CGirl in.

I felt sooooo bad!! I'm comforting her wet little body (because of course M&M had her in her mouth a few times I'm sure). Finally I get her to kind of calm down and finally purr as she's our purr machine and that's when I know she's okay.

Man, I'm such a bad mom.

Happy Birthday

Oh and Happy Birthday to you know who... I hope it's a good one!

Pet Peeve - Can you hear me now?

I'm starting a new section of Pet Peeves. I'll eventually share with you what is my ultimate Pet Peeve but I'll start with this one because I see it more now than ever....

The BlueTooth and anything like it!!!

Granted I think it's a wonderful invention for when you're driving. For the rest of the time? Take the thing out of your ear!!! You don't look cool. And are you really that important that you just might get a call and your hands won't be free to pick up your cell phone?

I was walking out of work the other day and this girl was behind me and talking. I thought she was talking to me. I kind of looked at her like "yeah? I don't know you". Then I realized that under the hair was a phone contraption and she was on the phone. Her hands weren't full at all, she had her purse over her shoulder.

I went to the grocerty store tonight and this older lady had one in her ear. Seriously!!!! Put it in your pocket and then if you get a call and you just have to use the damn thing then put it in your ear!

And I wonder how it sounds on the other end? Not that I'm aware, but I've not talked to someone with one of those things on. I wonder if because it's kind of far away from your mouth if it sounds like the person is far away?

Well that's my first Pet Peeve I have to share with you. Let me know what you think. :-)

Teenagers!

I'm on my way home today sitting at a red light. In front of me is a truck with teenage boys in the back (I'm sure a teenager driving but I couldn't see 'em) One of the boys is sitting there smoking (just shameful) and he puts out the cigarrete (sp?) on the side of the truck and throws it down. Then he pulls out his dip! (disgusting!!!)

I guess I just don't understand how kids get started in that stuff. I never was interested, I guess that was my luck huh? Plus my parents didn't smoke or dip so I guess I didn't see it all the time.

The only "good" thing I saw out of the incident? The boy put out the cigarrete before he threw it on the ground instead of just letting a lit one go. Granted I don't think our grass is that dry but you never know...

Doggie Lessons - Day 1

Finally!!! We had our first day at doggie school! How interesting was that. M&M is still shedding so there was hair everywhere... in my car, on our clothes and in the store.

Of course when she saw us get out the leash she was hyper. It was so hard to get her to be still while were there. M&M was by far the biggest dog there. The instructor has her dog there as a "model" of how to do things and her dog is a little big.

The things we learned today: We laid down and get the dog used to being touched everywhere - the mouth, ears, legs, tail - so that when they go to the vet they won't be so ancy. The second thing was for them to "watch" us. Basically get them to watch/look at you and they get a treat if they do it well. I'm sure this is so we can get them to watch us and then we'll do another command such as sit later.

After class we took M&M to the dog park since it was one of the first nicest days in a long time. There was this hound dog that was there and he was kind of picking fights on other dogs. And that bark is just so distinguishing. She was in heaven.

We got home and let her out in the backyard and she finally laid down and went to sleep. I think she enjoyed her day (okay, maybe not the training so much hee hee)

February Wolf Picture

As promised I've changed my wolf picture again. And I figure in honor of the snow we're getting and it's technically still winter, it needs to be a snowy picture!

~ Wolf Lover Girl

Snow in Dallas/Ft Worth!

Yep, you heard me right, we actually got snow! Thursday afternoon it started out nice and small and then it actually came down big and pretty! I just had to go home and play outside with my dog! And she was loving it. We ran and ran and ran.... And then she wanted to play with one of her many bones she has. Of course I couldn't pass up a picture opportunity with her in the snow. I hope you enjoy.

She finally got tired of being out there by herself so she was looking at me like, "okay mom can I come in?". She was so hyper when she came in and sliding all over the kitchen floor before I could get to her to dry her off.

Then when I woke up on Friday and went to let her out it had evidently snowed during the night because there was a nice blanket of snow. I was loving it. I got dressed and started out for work. I got a few miles before I decided I was turning around and going back home. I know any of you Northerners who might be reading this are thinking, "p*ssy". Well you see people in Dallas do not know how to drive in a bit of ice. Plus there's just not stuff good enough to help with the roads. Plus I was listening on the radio and the highway was shut down in two spots between where I was and where I needed to go.
So back to the house and let the dog back out to play.

This one of her by the fence is looking out at our back neighbors that she likes to go visit when she gets a chance.
BTW - I did finally get to work and even though there was no more ice it took me forever. And all the snow is gone. Boy we have been getting some interesting weather lately. This is the 3rd icy batch that has been through. Although the first 2 were really bad!
